Dr. Lam Akol Visits NOC: "You Are the Future of South Sudan"

It was a great honor to welcome Dr. Lam Akol, a prominent South Sudanese politician, to Nile Orphan Care in February 2024. He came to witness firsthand what God is doing through NOC and to encourage the children who call this place home.

Dr. Lam Akol reminded the children that they are the future of South Sudan. "You the children are our responsibility because you are the future of this country; you are the ones who will inherit this country from the current crop of people," he said. "After 20 years you may not see us around. So, you are the ones who will continue carrying out what we have set ourselves to achieve."

He also expressed deep gratitude to everyone who has supported NOC. "I can't also end without thanking the people who stood with us; stood with you. Those people are not related to you, none of them has relatives among you, none of them has relatives even in the whole South Sudan. But they were moved by humanity, humanity knows no bounds, and they selflessly contributed financially and otherwise to see that this institution is built to take care of you until you reach the age when you are able to take care of yourself and of others too."

Dr. Lam Akol made a simple but powerful pledge: "I will support you morally all the time and financially when I can. And I will advocate for your case and your cause in whatever forum I am part of."

We are deeply grateful for his visit and his commitment to the children of NOC. His words reminded us all why this work matters: because every child deserves a future filled with hope, education, and the love of Christ.
